Wagga Wagga Airport, New South Wales, Australia
Projects: Engineering - Planning & Design | Construction | Operations WSO/ARO
PROJECT SUMMARY
ACG undertook the Construction upgrade of Taxiway A to facilitate larger aircraft operations at Wagga Wagga Airport and to improve airfield efficiency. The works focused on achieving Code C compliance for the airfield including the necessary planning for taxiway separations and drainage works.
Works included:
- Civil Construction of High Strength Pavement
- Asphalt Construction of Taxiway Pavement
- Line Marking of Pavements.
- Staging of works to meet interim and ultimate aircraft traffic spectrum expectations.
PROJECT CHALLENGES AND OUTCOMES
Construction planning and interface with operational areas – The works were undertaken on an operational airport and the construction works were structured to minimise operational disruptions. ACG developed a staged approach involving Displaced Runway Thresholds and closing sections of the Taxiway down to allow the airport to function with minimal disruption.
