PROJECT SUMMARY
EPCM for Runaway pavement rejuvenation and Apron construction works.
SCOPE OF WORKS
- Sand Enrichment Spray Treatment to rejuvenate the pavement surface
- Reconstruction of existing apron parking bays to include subsoil drainage, foam bitumen stabilisation and rigid concrete pavement
- Asphalt overlay on taxiways Charlie & Delta
- Deep lift asphalt repairs to correct drainage issues and pavement failures
- Runway widening works required for Airfield Ground Lighting upgrade
PROJECT CHALLENGES AND OUTCOMES
With a requirement to keep the airport fully functional with zero impact to normal aircraft operations, ACG was able to stage construction works and use its extensive Airports experience to manage contractors and fulfil this commitment.
The unexpected discovery of 800t of concrete under an existing apron parking bay was a minimal delay due to ACG’s airport design and construction experience. Through client consultation ACG designed a new pavement thickness utilising local quarries and construction works continued with negligible delay.
