PROJECT SUMMARY

International airport design consultant and construction planning for new airport (B737-800 capable) in Gobi Desert region of Mongolia.

SCOPE OF WORKS
  • Review of design of runway, taxiway, apron (including thickness and geometry)
  • Review of terminal, air traffic control tower and airfield fire station
  • Update design to meet ICAO, FAA and international design standards
  • Amendment of pavement design including optimisation for available materials and local conditions
PROJECT CHALLENGES AND OUTCOMES

The ACG team reviewed construction practices and specification details within the country and met with project managers and batch plant and quarry operators to develop a construction program. This was then reviewed against client delivery timeframe requirements. The detail design included rigid pavement design for 3,250m long runway, aircraft parking apron for 737-800 and C130 operations.
