Airport design consultant and construction quality auditor for regional New South Wales Airport.

• Undertake site condition assessment
• Assess causes for pavement failures and review existing airport electrical infrastructure
• Undertake structural design of pavements to meet client requirements
• Provide lower cost pavement surface holding treatments to meet client’s budget
• Undertake airfield ground lighting and aircraft parking apron lighting design

Initial scope of works focused on providing a structural pavement overlay and upgraded airfield lighting solution. Due to budget considerations, alternative and innovative pavement rehabilitation solutions were investigate that were more compatible with the clients budget requirements. The outcomes from the project involved establishing a base design for contractors to price whilst also providing a framework for alternative bids from contractors that met key performance targets.

Due to the regional location of the project, the quality of local materials was investigated as part of the final solution.
