Temora Aerodrome, New South Wales, Australia
Projects: Engineering - Planning & Design | Construction | Operations WSO/ARO
PROJECT SUMMARY
ACG was engaged by the local council to undertake a condition assessment of the aircraft pavements after the site was impacted from local flooding. ACG were able to rapidly respond to the council request and co-ordinate survey and geotechnical testing of the site and provide aircraft pavement and electrical engineers on site to assess site condition.
SCOPE OF WORKS
- Assessment of flood damage to pavements
- Compliance to CASA standards
- Rehabilitation
PROJECT CHALLENGES AND OUTCOMES
Due to the urgent nature of the assessment, ACG was able to provide a scoped offer of services and attend to site with days of Council’s request. As we have relationships in place with the local survey and geotechnical companies, we were able to arrange for investigation works to be undertaken at short notice.
The site has variability in pavement configurations and the assessment resulted in reviewing a wide range of existing pavement types and pavement operational requirements. The site also has an Air Museum with a wide variety of flying vintage aircraft and hosts annual air shows which required ACG to model a large number of very different aircraft types.
As a result of the pavement condition assessment, ACG nominated a number of operational requirements to allow the pavements to continue to be used and we also provided a detailed assessment and costing of the proposed rehabilitation works.
ACG worked closely with Shepherd Services who were responsible for preparing the funding applications which will allow for Temora Shire Council to rehabilitate their aerodrome.
